Sunny has not shared his exact date of birth with the public, but most sources say he was born in 2008, in Mumbai, India and therefore holds Indian citizenship. He rose to prominence after playing in the “Lion” biographical drama film shot in 2016.
Childhood and education
Sunny spent his entire childhood in Mumbai alongside his parents Dilip and Vasu Pawar, however, he didn’t talk much about them with the public – it is known that his father Dilip worked as a sweeper in a government office in Maharashtra , while her mother is a housewife. Sunny also has a brother and a sister, but their names are not known.
Sunny is still very young and is currently attending the last year of elementary school. He’s focused on his acting career, but also wants to work on his education – he’s already made plans for high school, and would like to go to college one day and graduate.
Acting career
Sunny’s acting career was launched in 2016, after winning the role of Saroo Brierley in the movie ‘Lion’. This made him popular as soon as the film aired, and the fact that Sunny beat over 2,000 other kids in India for the role stunned many of his fans.
Unlucky for Sunny, he couldn’t attend the American premiere of the movie because he was denied a visa, however, he finally got it thanks to the help of some popular Hollywood actors. The film is about a young boy named Saroo Brierley who was left alone on a train that eventually took him over 100 miles from Kolkata, his hometown. He lived on the streets begging for food and money until he was eventually adopted by an Australian couple. The popular actor Dev Patel played the adult version of Saroo, and he thanked Sunny for his performance, stating that no one could have found a better actor for his role.
It seems that Sunny didn’t have many other notable roles after appearing in the movie “Lion” – his other two roles were in the movies “Sacred Games” and “AA BB KK” filmed in 2018. Sunny is still considered one of the most popular child actors in India, and he plans to continue his acting career and said if he does not succeed, he will become a policeman in Mumbai.

Although Sunny mainly focuses on his education and acting career, he enjoys doing several other things. Sunny is a gamer and enjoys playing video games in his free time – while he started playing games on his PC, he has since moved on to PlayStation 4. He enjoys gaming, but enjoys watching movies even better – two of his favorites are ‘Life of Pi’ and ‘Avatar’, while he also enjoys watching anime TV series such as ‘The Simpsons’ and ‘South Park’. His favorite actor is Hrithik Roshanwhile he has no favorite actress.
Being as young as he is, Sunny didn’t try alcohol or cigarettes and said he would try to keep it for the rest of his life. Sunny is a huge World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) fan, but unfortunately for him, he still hasn’t been able to catch any fights and has watched them on TV instead. Sunny also likes to sleep and eat!

Sunny is currently 12 years old. He has short black hair and brown eyes, and is 4ft 8in (1.42m) tall, while his weight is not known – both probably change daily!
