Early Childhood and Education: Growing up in Texas
Grace was born to an American family in Texas, to Parents Gil and Kate Phillips. Nothing else is known about them except that the Phipps family moved around a lot, which caused Grace to spend most of her childhood in Boerne and San Antonio, with her only sibling, a younger brother. In San Antonio, she attended Robert E. Lee High School, specifically – their Northeast School Division, majoring in arts and musical theater. At this time, she was also a member of “The Magik Theatre”, a children’s troupe based in San Antonio. Grace was an outstanding student and managed to graduate summa cum laude. Currently, she attends Columbia University in Upper Manhattan, New York. In 2016, she wanted to go back to school and get some formal theater training, even more than she had received during her high school days. After winner the Las Casas Performing Arts scholarship competition, Grace was noticed by a talent agent in Los Angeles. He was impressed by his role as Rizzo in a production of the legendary musical “Grease”.
Career beginnings: Fright Night, The Nine Lives of Chloe King and The Vampire Diaries
Immediately after enrolling, Grace made plans, moving to Los Angeles, California to have better opportunities to find work. It didn’t take her long to find her way to Hollywood, as she got a call just seven days after arriving. Her agent called her with the offer to audition for the role of Bee in the DreamWorks remake of the cult horror film “Fright Night.” Even though the film was panned by critics and deemed unworthy of the 1985 original, Grace was praised for her acting prowess and so decided to build on that success. At 19, she was cast as Amy in the ABC series “The Nine Lives of Chloe King”; even though the show was canceled after just one season, Phipps still left a mark and further expanded his portfolio. 2012 was another successful year for Grace as she starred as April Young in the hit fantasy series “The Vampire Diaries”, appearing in a total of ten episodes during season four, quickly becoming a fan favorite due to her character’s nervousness.

Even though everyone predicted the movie would be a hit, no one even dreamed of it being such a hit. With a total of 13.5 million viewers at the premiere, it was officially proclaimed the second highest rated film in modern cable television history. However, her most notable role of the year was in “Baby Daddy,” in which she played Megan. The following year, she appeared in “Austin & Ally”, a Disney sitcom.

A few months later, we could see Grace in “Dark Summer”, in which she played Mona Wilson. Horror movies have become one of her favorites, as she would star in the slasher film “Some Kind of Hate,” which debuted during the 2015 iteration of the Stanley Film Festival. Recently, Grace has slowed down a bit, but said she has big roles in mind for the future. We just have to wait and see.

She was the lead artist for “Falling for Ya” – the song topped the Billboard Kids Digital chart for several months, with additional appearances on the Heatseekers Songs chart and the Hot Digital Songs chart; while she was featured in five other songs on the soundtrack, it will always be her biggest hit. In a 2014 episode of “Austin & Ally”, Grace sang “The pilot and the siren” with “Teen Beach Movie” co-star Ross Lynch.
