Early life and formation
Viva Skubiszewski was born on the 17the November 1983, in Australia to Cezary and Lee Skubiszewski. Her father, a television and film composer is of Polish-Australian descent while her mother is Australian. The family moved from rural Victoria, Australia to Melbourne during her childhood due to her father’s job. Growing up, Claire had a strong fondness for acting and was inspired by Cate Blanchett and Heath Ledger.

Acting career
Shortly after graduating, she began her acting career as Viva Bianca, with the guest role of Adriana in the series “Eugenie Sandler PI” in 2000. After her debut, she starred in many many other TV series, such as “Marshall Law”, “Blue Heelers” and “All Saints”. In 2009, she starred in her first TV movies, titled ‘Accidents Happen’ and ‘Bad Bush’, but the former was a flop and garnered mixed reviews.
In 2010, she gained popularity for her role as Ilthyia in “Spartacus: Blood and Sand”, based on the life of the historical figure Spartacus. A year later, she played the lead role in ‘X: Night of Vengeance’, a thriller, then in 2012 reprized her role as Ilthyia in ‘Spartacus: Vengeance’ to much critical acclaim. Viva has also appeared in TV movies and films such as ‘A Prince for Christmas’ alongside Kirk Barker, ‘Showing Roots’ and ‘Blind’. More recently, she appeared in the films “Can’t Have You”, “Minutes to Midnight” and “Deadman Standing”.
Activist career
Viva has always defended women’s rights and has been involved in campaigns to promote these rights. She has spoken at various UN Women conferences and worked with several non-profit organizations that focus on women’s issues. In 2019, the actress starred in the movie “Milkshake Girls” which focuses on the sex trafficking epidemic in the United States.
