Although born in China, Susan spent her entire childhood in Toronto in Canada, as her mother moved to live there soon after Susan was born. The two were living alone as Susan doesn’t have any siblings and it is not known why Susan’s father wasn’t part of their lives.

Susan’s love for journalism became visible as soon as she enrolled at high school, and her mother has been her main source of motivation as she encouraged her to pursue her dreams. After matriculating from high school, Susan enrolled at the University of Toronto, again mostly thanks to her mother who was paying for her studies, and she graduated with a degree in economics. During her time there, Susan was learning languages and can today speak Cantonese, Mandarin, and English all fluently.

Career of a reporter

Susan launched her career as soon as she matriculated– although she would go on to obtain her degree in economics, she will remain focused on journalism and become hired by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation where she served as their associate producer and reporter for TV and radio.

From there, she moved to Beijing to work for the China Central Television International in 2003, and was part of their team until 2006 – she served as an anchor of the “World News” show, was their news editor, and also served as the main host of their “Biz China” program.

From CNBC Europe, she moved to CNBC US at the beginning of 2016, and started working as their correspondent and a presenter – she was part of the team until summer 2018 when she began working for the Fox Business Network as their correspondent, and is still holding the job.

Love life and husband

Susan is one of the most secretive women in the news industry, as she hasn’t shared any details regarding the men she might have dated throughout the years.

Whether it is because Susan has been completely focused on her career and doesn’t have time for men or because she prefers to keep her personal matters to herself, regardless she hasn’t talked about her love life at all. Rumor has it that the popular journalist was dating a man while she was working in China, and that the two have exchanged their wedding vows there, however, this hasn’t been confirmed and it appears as Susan is still single and unmarried.
