Who is Paula Zahn (On The Case host)? Wiki Biography
Paula Ann Zahn was born in Omaha, Nebraska USA, on 24 February 1956 – her zodiac sign is Pisces and she holds American nationality. Paula is a journalist and a newscaster, best known for hosting the “On the Case with Paula Zahn” crime documentary TV series, which airs on the Investigation Discovery channel.
Childhood and education
Paula was raised in Canton, Ohio and Naperville in Illinois by her mother, who is a teacher, and her father who is a sales executive working at International Business Machines (IBM) Corporation – she has two brothers named Mark and Steve, and a sister called Leslie.
Her parents enrolled her at Washington Junior High School, while she later switched and matriculated from Naperville Central High School. She went on to study at Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, from which she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in journalism in 1978. She also holds an honorary degree which she received from Dowling College in Oakdale, New York in the summer of 2003.
While at high school, Paula competed in numerous beauty pageants, and in 1973 reached the semi-finals of the Miss Teenage America competition.
Career as a reporter and TV host
Paula finished her internship at the WBBM-TV network, and after graduation started working at WFAA-TV station in Dallas, Texas, before switching to KFMB-TV in San Diego, California. She worked for several other networks during the next couple of years including KPRC-TV in Houston, Texas, and KCBS-TV in Los Angeles, California.
She began gaining recognition after she joined the ABC News’ team in 1987 – she started by hosting “The Health Show” program before moving to host “World News This Morning”, and later a segment of the “Good Morning America” TV show.
She left her job at ABC News in 1990, when she was offered the hosting position of “CBS This Morning” at CBS News. She travelled a lot while at CBS, including covering 1992 Winter Olympics in France, as well as the 1994 Winter Olympics in Norway.
Paula worked at CBS until 1999, when she began working at Fox News Channel hosting their “Fox Report” program and later her own “The Edge with Paula Zahn” news show.
After only two years with the channel, she joined CNN in 2001 and in January 2002 already had her own show entitled “American Morning with Paula Zahn” – Fox News Channel filed a lawsuit against her after they found out she was negotiating with CNN to move and work with them, stating it was a breach of the contract she had with Fox, however, the case was soon dismissed in court.
Paula announced she was leaving CNN in July 2007 and she took a short break before beginning to work at WNET network on 9 November 2008.

Love life and husband
Paula met Richard Cohen, a real estate developer, when the two were introduced by a mutual friend in 1984 – they dated for three years before marrying in 1987.
She gave birth to three children over the course of years, and the couple was featured in the news when Pale Male, a well-known New York red-tailed hawk’s nest was removed from a Manhattan building they were residing in – Richard is known for supporting the nest’s removal, while Paula supported the hawk.
The marriage lasted for around 20 years before the two divorced in 2007 – it was rumored that Paula was cheating on Cohen with Paul Fribourg, an American businessman, and all the tabloids were writing about it.
Paula and Richard were also fighting in the tabloids, with Paula stating she was driven into the arms of another man because Richard failed to satisfy her in bed, and they rarely even slept together. Shortly after filing for divorce, Paula pressed charges against Richard stating he mismanaged the money she made during their 20 years of marriage – the case was dismissed, as the judge believed this was only a personal matter between Paula and Richard.
Likes and other interests
Paula has been interested in music since she was very young, and is apparently very good at playing the cello – she was part of the New York Pops orchestra, and played with them in the summer of 1992 at Carnegie Hall, New York City.
She enjoys listening to classical music including operas, and is keen on spending her free time in theatre, watching evergreen plays as well as new ones. She was very sporting while at high school and has continued being physically active to this day, having run short charity races while she occasionally goes to the gym. One of her main hobbies is reading, mostly enjoying detective-crime books such as those written by Agatha Christie, her favorite writer. Her other hobby is travelling – her job as a reporter has taken her to each continent, while her dream travel destination has always been Paris in France.
