Early life and education
Michaela was raised with an older sister in Allentown by their Chinese-born mother and Irish-born father. Her mother is an accountant while her father is an entrepreneur. She began performing at the age of seven, performing on stage in regional productions as well as Pennsylvania community productions.
She studied at Parkland High School where she could have been seen performing in the plays “Bye Bye Birdie” and “The Crucible”. After graduating, she enrolled at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, from which she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater in 2000. While in college, she appeared in several plays performed at the Atlantic Theater Company, as well as Playwrights Horizons Theater School and Stonestreet Studios Conservatory. She also spent time in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, where she participated in the Experimental Theater Wing’s international training program.
Acting career
Michaela made her first film appearance portraying Cara in the “love the hard way“crime drama in 2001. She had a small role as a television journalist in the romantic comedy film “Pipe Dream” in 2002, and the same year played Marcy in “Garmento”. She took a four-year break from films until her next role in “Open Window” in 2006, which she played Miranda in. She portrayed May in the 2007 live-action romantic comedy/fantasy musical animation film “Enchanted”, and in 2011, Heidi Sobel in “The Lincoln Lawyer”.
Two of her most recent film roles were in 2015’s “Baby, Baby, Baby” in which she played Courtney Lee, and the 2016 psychological horror film “The Disappointments Room” in which she played Jules.
She made her first TV series appearance in 2001, playing Rocky in a single episode of the crime procedural drama “Law & Order.” In 2002, she played a house manager in an episode of “The Division,” then went on to play Dr. Maggie Yang in “MDs,” which was her first starring and recurring role on a television series.
In 2003, she appeared in the television series “JAG” and “The DA”, before starting to play Angela Montenegro, the main character of “Bone“Crime procedural comedy drama television series, to 2017 through 12 seasons and 246 episodes. Some of his most recent TV series appearances were in “Casual” in 2016, “Here and Now” in 2018 and “Yellowstone” in which she played the regular role of Sarah Nguyen until 2018 and 2019.

She also enjoys shopping with her sister, and the two like to sample various cuisines, especially sweets, and Michaela said they often experiment with buying odd-looking cakes.
In her spare time Michaela goes to the movies and some of her favorite actors are Robert De Niro, Paul Walker and Anne Hathaway while her favorite movies are “Sleepers”, “The Fast and the Furious” franchise and “One Day” .
