Youth, education and early career
Marin grew up in Camarillo and became interested in a career to play at a young age. She attended the Idyllwild Arts Foundation located near her hometown, a school known for being an institution helping children learn the arts. It is located in the San Jacinto Mountains in Palm Springs in the San Bernardino National Forest.
After graduating from high school, she enrolled at the University of Hartford, becoming a member of The Hartt School where she studied for a degree in fine art. The university’s performing arts conservatory has been in existence since 1920 and offers programs in drama, dance, and music. Recent stage work and Sneaky Pete
After Marin’s run in “reasons to be pretty”, she appeared in “After Miss Julie” which was staged at the American Airlines Theater. She also played the main character “Marie Antoinette” in 2012. One of her last stage productions was in “Kill Floor”, one of the main characters when it aired in 2015.
She then focused on television work, becoming a regular cast member on the “Sneaky Pete” series. The show follows the life of a released convict, who assumes the identity of his cellmate so he can avoid his past. The show aired for three seasons before ending. Private life
Ireland was previously in a relationship with theater actor Scott Shepherd. The two were scheduled to appear in the play “Troilus and Cressida” when their relationship reached a boiling point – apparently she was physically abused by Scott and went to rehearsals with a black eye.
The theater company wouldn’t let Scott go, so she was given a choice to stay or go; she stayed but was unhappy with her decision. The two parted ways and since then there has been no further PR in her own way. The incident has led many in the theater world to call for stricter guidelines to be created regarding instances of abuse between cast or crew members.
She mentioned that although she loves acting, she would probably never do anything in the horror genre, or anything too gory. The only exception is if the script was really good, or if the character she would be playing is really interesting.
