Tom was born on December 13, 1975 in Poway, California, United States; he is the son of an oil company executive father and a mortgage broker mother. He was interested in music from an early age, but first wanted to become a firefighter. However, once he got his hands on his first guitar, he hardly put it down. Even before high school, he was trying to form a band, but had little to no luck. Nevertheless, in 1992 he formed Blink-182 with Scott Raynor and Mark Hoppus, but before the release of their debut album, Tom was still working on construction sites and doing various odd jobs to support his music career.
Nevertheless, in 1996 the band signed a recording contract with MCA Records, and they focused entirely on music. The group’s debut album – “Cheshire Cat” – was released a year earlier, through the Cargo label. Nevertheless, the group enjoyed its best years in the early 2000s, with the albums “Take off Your Pants and Jacket” (2001) and “Blink-182” (2003).
Solo projects
In 2005 Blink-182 went on hiatus and Tom formed his own band – Angels & Airwaves – which is still active. Blink-182 returned in 2009 and Tom worked on another album, ‘Neighborhoods’ (2011), before finally leaving the band in 2015. The band were touring and about to hit the studio when they informed the other members of the group of his departure. . In 2015, Tom released his first solo album – a collection of eight Blink-182 demo songs and more, titled “To the Stars… Demos, Odds and Ends”.
