School and early life
Charles spent his entire childhood in Central Michigan alongside his adoptive parents Dr. Jan Pol and Diane Pol, and his biological sister Kathy Pol who they adopted as well – his second sister is Diane Jr and she was adopted at the age of 18. Charles was raised on a farm, and has been helping his father at his clinic since he was five years old – he was firstly doing mostly farm calls, and helping all the animals he could. He enjoyed helping his father as he was and still is a big lover of animals, but eventually decided to go after a rather different profession than veterinary. Charles’ father Dr. Jan Pol was born and raised in the Netherlands on his family’s farm, so has been surrounded by animals throughout his entire life. While he has launched his own show “The Incredible Dr. Pol”, he is also a writer, as he has published his best-selling book “Never Turn Your Back On An Angus Cow: My Life as a Country Vet”.
Charles has been actively working as a veterinarian since the ’70s, and has allegedly had more than 23,000 clients, and worked with a wide variety of animals from mice and snakes to cows and horses. He can speak four languages fluently: English, Dutch, German, and French, and is considered to be the absolute favorite veterinarian in the US.

Charles moved to Los Angeles as soon as he received his bachelor’s degree, and started working in production for some of the most popular US companies involved in films, including “Paramount Pictures”, “Parkway Production”, and “Mirage Enterprises”.
His career of an ‘actor’ – really TV celebrity – was launched in 2011, when he was cast in his father’s show “The Incredible Dr. Pol” – the idea behind the show was originally his, and he now also works as the show’s executive producer. On 27 January 2018, Charles uploaded a picture of a ring on Beth’s ring finger, meaning the two have been engaged for more than a year and a half now but still haven’t talked about exchanging their wedding vows.
While Charles hasn’t talked about any other girls he might have dated throughout the years, his sister Diane Jr uploaded a picture of Charles with a woman named Kelly in 2012, as they were going to a Halloween party, and she addressed her as his girlfriend.
