A woman is accused of spitting at several Las Vegas Metropolitan Police officers during an incident Tuesday morning at McCarran International Airport.
Metro police said they answered an airport door after Karleen Gearing, of Phoenix, Ariz., “Was belligerent and yelled at” Southwest Airlines employees, they said.
Police said the airline denied Gearing boarding because of his behavior, according to an arrest report.
“I tried to speak to Gearing to inform him of the decision made by Southwest Airlines,” the investigator wrote in the report. “Then she became belligerent with the officers and started screaming and swearing. She was told she needed to calm down, but she refused and fell to the ground.
Officers then began arresting Gearing when she allegedly retaliated and spat at them, police said.
Police eventually took Gearing into custody with the help of several police officers and a spit mask.
Gearing faces charges of battery life on a protected officer, resisting arrest and breaking airport rules.
She was released on bail and ordered to stay out of trouble and away from Southwest Airliners.
