Dan Petrescu was the pilot of a plane that crashed into an office building, killing everyone on board, in a horrific incident near Milan.
Eight people, including a child, were killed when the small plane exploded into a fireball while crashing outside a metro station in San Donato Milanese this afternoon.
The flight took off from the airport in the city of Linate and was heading to the island of Sardinia, authorities said.

Witnesses described seeing several parked cars burst into flames as plumes of smoke rose into the sky after the impact at around 1 p.m. local time.
According to the Italian newspaper La Repubblica, the victims were six French tourists, a Romanian pilot and another member of the crew.

Firefighters at the scene of the accident in San Donato Milanese, near Milan. Emergency teams rushed to the chaotic scene, but none of the passengers were able to escape.
Firefighters tweeted that no one other than those on board was involved and the burning vehicles were unoccupied. A thick column of black smoke rose from the crash site and was visible for several kilometers.
Photos show firefighters continuing to extinguish the charred building. “I saw the plane collapse and then crash over there,” said 19-year-old witness Andrea in shock.
The teenager explained how he quickly called his friends after hearing loud noises before seeing pieces of metal spray the street. The office building is still under construction and was empty at the time of the accident.
Carlo Cardinali, Milan fire officer, said: “The plane struck the building on the facade, with an extremely violent impact. “The pilot took a turn, so he noticed an anomaly.”
