Youth, education and early career
Charlie wanted to pursue a career by acting from an early age. He attended Salesianum School in Wilmington, Delaware, which is a Roman Catholic school with over 1,100 students enrolled and is considered one of the best Catholic high schools in the United States. He did not finish high school there, however, as he moved to enroll in a Pennsylvania-based cyber school called 8PA Leadership Charter School (PALCS).
After graduating from high school, he forged ahead and pursued his dream by moving to Los Angeles at age 16. His first project was in seven episodes the series “Windy Acres”, in which he played the young Gerald, then had a role in the TV movie “Franklin Charter”. In 2008, he was cast in an episode of “The Office” – the sitcom follows the lives of office workers at a fictional paper-selling company. It is based on the BBC series of the same name, and was filmed to look like a documentary, and received acclaim during its run, winning several awards in the process.
It also elevated the careers of many of its actors, including Steve Carell and John Krasinski.
Continuing acting projects and the middle
McDermott worked on several TV movies after appearing on “The Office.” He had a role in “Safe Harbor” which aired on the Hallmark Channel, and a guest appearance in “Medium”, a supernatural series aired on NBC. It tells the story of a psychic played by Patricia Arquette, working as a consultant to help with criminal investigations.
During the same year, he also made an appearance on “Private Practice” on ABC. The show is a spinoff of “Grey’s Anatomy” focusing on the character of Dr. Addison Montgomery, who joins a private practice in Los Angeles. In 2009, he had one of his biggest projects since he was cast in “The middle”. The sitcom follows the life of a lower-middle-class family struggling with their daily lives in Indiana. The show ran for nine seasons and starred Patricia Heaton and Neil Flynn.
During its run, it earned numerous nominations and positive reviews from critics. After the series ended, a spin-off was created based on the character of Eden Sher, but ABC passed it on, not finding the same interest in it.
Other projects
While working on “The Middle”, Charlie also starred in other projects when he had the time. He was one of the characters in the Lifetime TV movie called “Bond of Silence”, which starred Kim Raver.
He also made an appearance in “future man”, a web series streaming via Hulu, and starring Josh Hutcherson and Eliza Coupe in the story of a janitor who must save the world. He also had a role in the movie “Instant Family,” which starred Mark Wahlberg and Rose Byrne in the film about parents who adopt three children and suddenly have to adjust to these new circumstances. After “The Middle” ended, he continued to seek acting work.

He was cast as a recurring character in “Unbelievable” released on Netflix, and is a miniseries starring Toni Collette and Merritt Wever telling the story of serial rapist Marc Patrick O’Leary, who raped six women before his death. arrest, and was inspired by the news article titled “An Unbelievable Story of Rape” written by Ken Armstrong and T. Christian Miller. One of her latest projects is a minor role in the horror film “Countdown” which stars Elizabeth Lail. The film tells the story of a group of people trying to survive a mobile app that tells them when they are going to die.

Charlie is the kind of person who mainly stays to himself. Even though he is present on social networks, not much is known about romantic relationships. He has posted photos and videos with friends, but is widely believed to be single with no evidence of a relationship.
