Townley, the son of Zaxby co-founder Tony Townley, raced in NASCAR in the late 2000s and 2010s, mostly with support from his family’s chain of fried chicken restaurants. Having developed a penchant for damaged cars early in his career, Townley would eventually become a respectable driver who enjoyed most of his success in the Truck series.
Townley achieved a top 8th place in the Truck Series points standings in 2015, which saw the proudest moment of his career when he won the checkered flag for his first and only victory at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. In addition to his NASCAR pedigree, Townley also enjoyed the thrill of victory at Daytona International Speedway, twice winning the speedway in the ARCA Menards series. Townley won the ARCA race at Daytona in 2013 for his first career victory, then did it again in 2016.
