Gary Francis Post Wiki – Gary Francis Post Biography

Gary Francis Poste has been identified as a potential new suspect in the hunt for the Zodiac Killer, the serial killer who terrorized the San Francisco Bay Area in the late 1960s.

Due to the cryptic letters and numbers the killer sent to authorities and to the San Francisco Chronicle at the time, the case has long fascinated true crime enthusiasts. It has been the subject of numerous books, documentaries, TV shows and films, the most famous being the dramatization directed by David Fincher with Robert Downey Jr and Jake Gyllenhaal.

Age

His age was around 75 to 85 at the time of his death.

Murder of Cheri Jo Bates

The group, called The Case Breakers, told Fox News that the unidentified serial killer was Gary Francis Poste, who died in 2018. The Case Breakers also believe that Poste killed Cheri Jo Bates, 18, on October 31, 1966, in Riverside, hundreds of miles from the San Francisco area where the infamous murders took place.

Bates’ murder took place years before the five murders likely carried out by the Zodiac Killer, who bragged about his actions in coded notes sent to police and media.

The Case Breakers posted a photo of Poste, which shows him with a scar on his forehead shown in sketches of the elusive killer.

Investigators’ report

Former Army Counter-Intelligence Agent Jen Bucholtz told Fox the group has decoded messages strongly suggesting Poste is the Zodiac Killer – including one in which Poste’s full name has been deleted to express a completely different message.

“So you have to know Gary’s full name to decipher these anagrams. I just don’t think there is another way for anyone to figure it out, ”she told the outlet.

According to Fox, Bates was found dead in an alleyway on the Riverside City College campus after her father reported her missing. A year after his murder, the police received a letter which led them to investigate the Zodiac Killer. In 2016, detectives reportedly received a typed letter from someone claiming to have written the last note and that it was a “sick joke”.

The Riverside Police Cold Affairs Unit told Fox not to believe the Zodiac Killer murdered Bates in 1966. However, The Case Breakers believe Poste is responsible for Bates’ death, and they urged them police to compare the DNA of his crime scene to that of Poste.

Despite Riverside Police’s claims to Fox, The Case Breakers reportedly acquired a 1975 FBI memo from Riverside Police, stating that Bates was one of the Zodiac victims.

The group noted several other similarities between Poste and the killer. In Bates’ case, detectives allegedly discovered a heel in a military-style boot that matched Poste’s size and shoe type. Additionally, Poste was an Air Force veteran who received medical treatment for a gun-related incident at a hospital 15 minutes from where Bates was killed.

In a statement, The Case Breakers said a “whistleblower-turned-whistleblower” briefed the team on the latest developments, which involve a team of volunteers finding additional crime scenes that may be linked to the zodiac killer.

“The defector claims to have escaped from the Zodiac criminal ‘gang’, wandering the mountains for decades. Now in his 50s, he says he’s both ashamed and angry. “He prepared me to become a killing machine,” the statement read.

The Case Breakers identified Fox’s whistleblower as someone named Wil, who allegedly claimed to have seen Poste bury the murder weapons in the woods.

The Case Breakers said they were given a remote location to dig up weapons in hopes of solving the decades-long mystery.
